Jet Reports — Excel-native BC reporting, deployed and supported by Amplio

Jet Reports (formerly Jet Professional) is an Excel add-in that connects directly to Business Central — and to NAV and GP — and lets finance build refreshable, drillable reports against live ERP data. Out-of-the-box it ships 100+ pre-built templates: management accounts, P&L by dimension, balance sheet, AR / AP ageing, cash flow. The product is from insightsoftware; Amplio is an InsightSoftware partner and handles the whole UK lifecycle — licence, install, training, ongoing support.

Why we recommend it for BC

BC's standard Account Schedules and the built-in Excel layouts cover the basics, but every finance team we've worked with hits the same wall: cross-dimension consolidation, period-on-period comparatives that follow management's preferred slicing, and reports that survive a chart-of-accounts change without a rebuild. Jet handles all three because it pulls live BC data into Excel and lets you build the report once, parameterise the dimensions, and refresh on demand. Drill-down from a number on a P&L straight into the underlying GL transactions. Multi-company consolidation is a function call, not a manual export-and-paste.

What's in scope

  • Excel desktop add-in + Excel Online — same report definition runs in both. Mac users get Excel-Online-only.
  • Reports Center — cloud report-distribution hub. Schedule monthly management packs to auto-run and email out, with parameter prompts for the recipient.
  • Drill-down to BC source — every number is clickable down to the underlying journal lines.
  • Multi-company consolidation — pull from N BC companies in one report, with FX conversion if needed.
  • AI assistants — Data Assist / Report Assist / Doc Assist help build reports from natural-language prompts. Useful for non-finance staff producing operational reports.
  • Microsoft Fabric / OneLake integration — for clients with a wider data estate.
  • SOC 2 compliance, MFA, role-based permissions, encrypted connections.

The Amplio service wrap

We deploy Jet end-to-end: licensing through us or direct, BC connector setup, GL-to-template mapping, dimension setup so reports survive chart-of-accounts changes, finance-team training (typically half a day for the core team plus a 90-minute self-service session for everyone else), and tier-1 support afterwards. Most BC clients are productive in Jet within a fortnight of go-live; the bottleneck is almost always the chart-of-accounts redesign that should have happened during BC implementation, not Jet itself.

Best fit for

  • Finance teams already living in Excel who want to stop the manual export-and-format cycle.
  • Multi-company groups consolidating in BC.
  • Organisations with custom dimensions doing real work (cost centres, projects, sites).
  • Anyone running a monthly management pack that takes more than half a day to assemble.

Not the right fit if

  • Your reporting need is operational dashboards rather than financial statements — Jet Analytics + Power BI is the better tool there.
  • You don't have anyone in-house who's comfortable in Excel formulas. Jet Reports is genuinely Excel-native — that's the win, but it does assume Excel literacy.

Pricing & procurement

Per-named-user, annual subscription, billed by us or by InsightSoftware direct. Implementation effort is quoted as a fixed package against your number of companies, dimensions and template count. We don't take licence margin if you'd rather buy direct.

Frequently asked questions

Are you the reseller, or do we buy direct from InsightSoftware?

Both work. Amplio is an InsightSoftware partner and can procure Jet Reports under our agreement, including discounted multi-year terms. If you’d rather buy direct from InsightSoftware, that’s fine too — we don’t insist on margin on the licence.

What’s the cheapest Jet Reports tier?

Jet Reports is licensed per concurrent user from around £150/user/month, with volume discounts above 10 users. Single-user installs are typically not cost-effective; the break-even is usually 3+ active report writers.

Can we trial Jet Reports first?

Yes — InsightSoftware provides a 15-day trial that connects to your BC sandbox. We can stand up the sandbox and connect Jet Reports for you so the trial is meaningful from day one.

How long does a Jet Reports implementation take?

1–2 weeks for a single-account install onto a small BC tenant, 4–6 weeks for warehouse stand-up and template porting from your existing Excel pack. Fixed scope, fixed go-live date.

Do we still need Power BI if we have Jet Reports?

Different tools. Jet Reports is for Excel-native finance reporting (period close packs, board reports, ad-hoc drill-down). Power BI is for operational dashboards consumed in a browser. Most clients use both, but our Jet Analytics page covers the Power BI integration side better than Jet Reports does.

Will Jet Reports work after the next BC version upgrade?

Yes — InsightSoftware ships an updated Jet Reports build for each BC major release, and we test it on your sandbox tenant before applying to production.
