Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central — UK SMB Implementation
Business Central is Microsoft's mid-market ERP — the natural step for UK SMEs that have outgrown Sage, Xero, or QuickBooks but don't need (or can't justify) a £500k Tier-1 deployment. Amplio implements BC across UK SMB sectors and runs ongoing partnerships for clients that want a single point of contact for everything BC.
What's in scope
Standard BC modules — General Ledger, AR, AP, Inventory, Manufacturing, Projects, Resources, Sales, Purchasing, Fixed Assets — configured to your business. Dimension design comes early, because dimensions are what make reporting useful later. Data migration from your existing system. Go-live training. Post-launch support.
How we engage
- Quick BC Install — 4–8 weeks. Standard scope, standard modules, no custom AL. You adopt BC's workflows; we configure, train, and stand by for 90 days post-go-live.
- Full-scope implementation — 3–6 months. Bigger scope, custom AL where it adds value, integration to WMS / CRM / POS / payroll. Quoted per phase.
- Managed partnership — ongoing. Amplio is your BC partner of record; you call us when you need configuration changes, new reports, troubleshooting, or version upgrades.
What makes Amplio different
Three things. First, you talk directly to the consultants delivering the work — not an account manager, not a junior, not offshoring. Second, every project is fixed scope with a fixed go-live date — not time-and-materials that drifts. Third, every AL extension Amplio builds — whether it's a per-client custom build or one of the extensions we're publishing to AppSource — is documented openly at docs.ampliosolutions.co.uk, so you can read how we work before you buy.
Sectors we serve
Manufacturing, distribution, professional services, retail, financial services, multi-entity groups. Pick your sector for sector-specific configuration notes.

Frequently asked questions
How long does a Business Central implementation take?
3–6 months full-scope for a standard SMB rollout. Single-account installs land in 1–2 weeks. We commit to a fixed go-live date in the SOW — no "depending on requirements".
What’s the difference between BC Essentials and BC Premium?
Essentials covers finance, sales, purchasing, inventory and core operations. Premium adds Manufacturing and Service Management. Most SMBs without a factory or field-service team are fine on Essentials.
Do we need Premium for manufacturing?
Yes — production orders, BOMs, capacity planning and machine centres are Premium-only. If you assemble or manufacture anything against orders, plan for Premium.
Do you provide training and onboarding?
Yes. Train-the-trainer is included in the Premium Growth tier and above; the Essentials Starter tier is self-serve onboarding with our written guides. A full team 5-day training is bundled into the Multi-Entity Enterprise tier.
Can we migrate data from our existing system?
Yes — Sage, QuickBooks, Xero, NetSuite, older Dynamics versions, custom systems. Basic migration (chart of accounts, customers, suppliers, opening balances) is in every tier. Multi-year transactional history is Multi-Entity Enterprise scope.
What ongoing support do you provide after go-live?
30–90 days hyper-care included by tier (see pricing below). After hyper-care, support runs on a retainer (PAYG / Lite / Plus) sized to your team. Switching tier mid-engagement is fine.
Can BC integrate with our other tools — CRM, e-commerce, payroll?
Yes. Native connectors exist for Microsoft 365, Power BI, Power Apps and Shopify. For others (Salesforce, Sage Payroll, vendor portals) we either use the standard API endpoints or build a Power Automate / custom AL integration depending on volume.
